Our Services
LIFE ElderCare’s four direct service programs: Meals On Wheels, Friendly Visitors, VIP Rides and Fall Prevention, help adults, age 60 and over, living in Fremont, Newark and Union City, California, maintain their independence as they age. With a staff of twelve and a volunteer force in the hundreds, we offer personalized, low to no-cost solutions that address the issues of hunger, loneliness, lack of transportation and increased risk of falls.
Proper nutrition is a vital component of healthy aging. We deliver a hot, well-balanced, mid-day meal Monday through Friday and a frozen meal for Saturday and Sunday. To receive meals a person must be unable to shop for or prepare meals on their own. Meals On Wheels is a donation program and we ask participants to make a contribution each month. Eligibility is based on need, not income.
VIP Rides links seniors and disabled individuals with a volunteer to accompany/assist while traveling to appointments, grocery shopping or errands using local Paratransit. Volunteers may also use their own vehicle to drive clients who require door-through-door service. Eligibility is based on need not income.
LIFE ElderCare’s multifaceted approach to fall prevention includes: in-home exercise for frail, homebound seniors, in-home fall risk assessment and recommendations, minor home modifications as necessary and a complete medication review. Free to qualified participants.
Friendly Visitors matches frail, isolated seniors with volunteers that provide companionship through weekly visits, phone calls and outings. This program gives older adults the chance to share their knowledge and experience with people of all ages and backgrounds. No charge to qualified participants.
